Navi Mumbai Constable Strangles Friend in Car, Drives 200 Km to Satara to Burn and Dump Body Over ‘Love Triangle’

Navi Mumbai/Satara: In a chilling case that has shocked Maharashtra, a police constable from Navi Mumbai allegedly strangled his friend inside a car over a suspected love triangle and later drove nearly 200 kilometres to Satara to burn and dispose of the body. Police have arrested the constable along with three accomplices in connection with the murder.

Called Victim on Pretext of Settlement

According to Satara police officials, the accused constable called the victim to Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai under the pretext of resolving personal differences related to a woman. Investigators said tensions had been brewing between the two over a relationship dispute.

Once inside the vehicle, the constable allegedly strangled the victim. Police said three other accused were present and assisted in carrying out the crime.

Body Transported, Burned to Destroy Evidence

After the murder, the accused reportedly drove towards Satara district in an attempt to dispose of the body far from the crime scene. Police said the group chose a secluded location where they allegedly tried to burn the body to destroy evidence before dumping it.

However, suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident led investigators to trace the movements of the accused through mobile phone records and CCTV footage. The body was later recovered, and forensic teams were deployed to collect evidence from both the vehicle and the dump site.

Arrests and Charges

All four accused have been taken into custody. Police have registered a case of murder, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of evidence under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Senior officials confirmed that the constable has been suspended from service pending further departmental inquiry. Authorities are also probing whether the crime was premeditated and examining the exact sequence of events leading to the killing.

Investigation Continues

Police are questioning the accused to determine individual roles and motive details. Forensic examination reports and digital evidence are expected to play a key role in strengthening the case.

The brutal nature of the crime has sparked outrage, particularly as one of the prime accused is a serving police personnel entrusted with upholding the law.
