‘No One Knows Who Is Running the BJP Government in Haryana’: Bhupinder Singh Hooda

Chandigarh | January 31, 2026

Leader of the Opposition in the Haryana Assembly and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in the State, alleging that it has failed on all fronts and that people have lost faith in its leadership and governance.

Addressing the media, Hooda said that the situation in Haryana has deteriorated to such an extent that “no one knows who is actually running the government.” He claimed that internal confusion within the ruling dispensation has resulted in administrative paralysis and a complete breakdown of governance.

“The BJP government in Haryana has failed on every front — be it law and order, employment, farmers’ welfare, inflation, or social harmony. The public is confused and frustrated because there is no clarity about leadership. No one knows who is taking decisions or in whose hands the administration really is,” Hooda said.

Loss of Public Trust

The former Chief Minister asserted that the people of Haryana have lost all trust in the BJP government, accusing it of ignoring public concerns while remaining focused on internal power struggles.

He alleged that rising unemployment, increasing crime rates, farmer distress, and unchecked price rise have become defining features of the BJP’s tenure in the State.

“Youth are unemployed, farmers are agitating, women are unsafe, and common citizens are burdened by inflation. Despite repeated promises, the government has failed to deliver on its commitments,” Hooda added.

Attack on Governance and Administration

Hooda also questioned the functioning of the State administration, claiming that officers are unsure about accountability due to political instability and lack of direction at the top.

He said the Congress would continue to raise people’s issues both inside and outside the Assembly and would expose what he termed as the BJP’s “misrule” in Haryana.

Congress Eyes Political Momentum

The remarks come at a time when the Congress is attempting to regain political momentum in Haryana ahead of future electoral battles. Hooda reiterated that the party is prepared to offer a “stable and people-centric alternative” to the present government.

The BJP, however, has repeatedly rejected Opposition allegations, maintaining that the State government is committed to development and good governance.
