Pramod Sawant Outlines Roadmap for ‘Viksit Goa 2037’, Speaks on Third District Plan and Nightclub Safety Measures

Goa Chief Minister details long-term development vision, administrative expansion, and stricter enforcement for public safety.

Panaji:Pramod Sawant has laid out an ambitious roadmap for the state under the banner of ‘Viksit Goa 2037’, outlining plans for infrastructure expansion, administrative reforms, and enhanced public safety measures. Addressing media and stakeholders, the Chief Minister emphasised that the government is focused on balanced growth while preserving Goa’s cultural and environmental identity.

Vision for ‘Viksit Goa 2037’

Sawant said the long-term vision aims to transform Goa into a developed and self-reliant state by 2037. The blueprint reportedly focuses on:

  • Strengthening tourism with sustainable practices

  • Boosting IT, education, and startup ecosystems

  • Improving healthcare infrastructure

  • Expanding road connectivity and public transport

  • Enhancing ease of doing business

He stressed that development would not come at the cost of Goa’s ecological balance and assured that environmental safeguards would remain a priority.

Proposal for a Third District

One of the major administrative proposals discussed was the creation of a third district in the state. Currently divided into two districts, the move is being considered to improve governance efficiency and bring administration closer to citizens.

Sawant stated that the proposal is under evaluation and consultations are ongoing. The new district, if approved, is expected to streamline delivery of government services, reduce administrative burden, and accelerate local development projects.

Nightclub Safety and Regulation

Responding to concerns about safety standards in nightclubs and entertainment venues, the Chief Minister said that strict compliance with fire safety norms and operational guidelines would be enforced. Authorities have been instructed to conduct regular inspections and ensure that establishments adhere to licensing conditions.

He emphasised that while nightlife is an important part of Goa’s tourism-driven economy, public safety cannot be compromised. Any violations, he warned, would attract stringent penalties.

Focus on Law and Order

Sawant also reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order amid rising tourist inflow. Measures including increased police presence, surveillance systems, and coordination between departments are being strengthened to ensure a safe environment for residents and visitors alike.

Balancing Growth and Identity

Highlighting the broader development narrative, the Chief Minister said the vision of ‘Viksit Goa 2037’ aligns with India’s larger growth goals while keeping Goa’s unique heritage intact. He called for collective participation from citizens, industry leaders, and policymakers to realise the vision.

The government is expected to release detailed policy documents and timelines in the coming months as part of the comprehensive development strategy.
