According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred when occupants of two Delhi-registered vehicles got into a heated argument on the road. The verbal dispute soon escalated into violence, during which one of the individuals allegedly fired a gun.

Tragically, the bullet did not hit any of the people involved in the confrontation but instead struck the retired officer, who was passing by the area on foot. He collapsed on the spot, leaving bystanders shocked. Despite being rushed to a nearby medical facility, he succumbed to his injuries.

Police officials stated that the altercation appeared to be a case of sudden road rage, possibly triggered by a minor issue such as overtaking or driving behaviour. Authorities have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend those involved in the firing.

Teams have been deployed to trace the vehicles using CCTV footage and other evidence. Investigators are also examining whether the weapon used was licensed and who exactly fired the shot.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents and raised serious concerns over rising instances of road rage and reckless use of firearms. Locals have demanded strict action against the accused and stronger enforcement of law and order.

Police have assured that all those responsible will be brought to justice and that strict legal action will be taken. The tragic death of the retired Brigadier has once again highlighted the dangers of uncontrolled aggression on roads and the unintended consequences it can have on innocent lives.
