S. Jothimani Demands Arrest of Karur BJP District President Over Alleged Derogatory Remarks

Karur: Congress MP from Karur, S. Jothimani, on Monday demanded the immediate arrest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Senthilnathan in connection with a case registered against him for allegedly making “derogatory and disgusting remarks” against her.

S. Jothimani

Addressing reporters, Ms. Jothimani said that a formal complaint had been lodged and a case booked against the BJP functionary. She alleged that the remarks were not only personally offensive but also an attempt to intimidate a woman public representative.

Call for Immediate Action

The MP urged the police to act without delay, stating that strict action would send a strong message against political hate speech and personal attacks.

“No one is above the law. When such offensive statements are made in public, it is the duty of the police to ensure accountability,” she said.

She further added that public discourse must remain respectful and focused on policy issues rather than personal insults.

Case Registered

Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complaint. The sections invoked reportedly pertain to promoting enmity, defamation, and outraging the modesty of a woman, though further details are awaited.

Authorities said they are examining video footage and other evidence related to the alleged remarks before proceeding with further action.

Political Reactions

The development has sparked political reactions in Karur district, with Congress workers staging protests demanding swift arrest, while local BJP leaders have defended their district president, claiming that the remarks were taken out of context.

Police stated that investigation is ongoing and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law.

The incident has once again highlighted rising tensions between political parties in Tamil Nadu ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
