Security Beefed Up After Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Courts Across Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Security has been tightened across multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh after several courts received bomb threat emails, triggering panic and heightened vigilance in judicial premises.

 Bomb Threat Emails

According to officials, at least 18 districts reported receiving threatening emails warning of explosions inside court complexes. The districts include Lucknow, Varanasi, Moradabad, Meerut, and Ayodhya, among others.

Police officials said that as soon as the emails were flagged, bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and local police teams were deployed to conduct thorough searches of court buildings and surrounding areas. Entry and exit points were closely monitored, and litigants and lawyers were asked to cooperate with security checks.

Preliminary searches did not uncover any suspicious objects, and authorities suspect the emails may have been a hoax. However, officials emphasized that the threats are being taken seriously given the sensitive nature of judicial institutions.

Senior police officers confirmed that cybercrime teams have been tasked with tracing the origin of the emails. Efforts are underway to identify the sender through IP tracking and digital forensics. “We are investigating the source of the emails and appropriate legal action will be taken against those responsible,” a senior official said.

Court proceedings in some districts were briefly disrupted as a precautionary measure, but most resumed after security clearance was granted. Lawyers’ associations have expressed concern over the threats and urged the administration to ensure robust security arrangements.

Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information on social media. Enhanced security measures are expected to remain in place until the investigation concludes.
