Seven Doctors Suspended in Rajasthan Over Fraud in State Health Scheme

Jaipur: In a major crackdown on alleged irregularities in the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), the Rajasthan government has suspended seven doctors following an audit that uncovered fraudulent claims and financial misconduct.

Seven Doctors Suspended in Rajasthan

Audit Triggers Action

The action comes after a detailed audit of the health scheme, which provides cashless medical facilities to state government employees and pensioners. Officials said discrepancies were found in claims submitted by certain empanelled hospitals and diagnostic centres under the scheme.

Preliminary findings revealed that inflated bills, unnecessary medical procedures, and forged documentation were allegedly used to siphon off government funds.

FIRs Against Nursing Home, Diagnostic Centre

Authorities have registered FIRs against a private nursing home accused of generating fake treatment claims under the scheme. Investigators suspect that several claims were submitted for procedures that were either not conducted or were exaggerated in cost.

In a separate case, a diagnostic centre has been booked for allegedly forging doctors’ signatures on medical reports and claim documents to fraudulently obtain reimbursements.

Doctors Suspended Pending Probe

Seven doctors linked to the suspicious claims have been placed under suspension pending a departmental inquiry. Health department officials stated that strict action would be taken if the allegations are substantiated.

A senior official said the government is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of the health scheme, which serves thousands of beneficiaries across the state.

Wider Scrutiny Expected

The crackdown is expected to widen as authorities scrutinise additional claims and empanelled institutions under the scheme. Officials indicated that more notices may be issued if further irregularities are detected.

The Rajasthan government has reiterated that misuse of public funds, especially in welfare schemes meant for employees and pensioners, will not be tolerated.
