Six Hospitalised After Suspected Food Poisoning in Bhagirathpura Area of Indore

Six people were hospitalised after allegedly consuming contaminated food at a birthday party in the Bhagirathpura locality of Indore, officials said on Sunday. The incident has prompted health authorities to launch an inquiry into the cause of the suspected food poisoning.

According to Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Madhav Hasani, around 60 people had attended the birthday celebration late Saturday night and partook in the food served at the gathering. On Sunday morning, several attendees began experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhoea.

“As soon as we received information about the incident, medical teams were alerted and the affected individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment,” Dr. Hasani said. Six people who showed more severe symptoms were admitted for observation and treatment, while others received primary care and were discharged after their condition stabilised.

Health department officials have collected food samples from the venue and sent them for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause of contamination. Authorities are also examining whether hygiene lapses during food preparation or storage contributed to the incident.

Local administrative officials visited the area to assess the situation and ensure that those affected received timely medical attention. The condition of the hospitalised patients is reported to be stable.

The district health department has advised residents to ensure proper hygiene and food safety measures, especially during social gatherings and community events. Further action will be taken based on the laboratory report, officials added.
