According to police officials, the student was found hanging in her hostel room. The incident came to light when hostel authorities noticed her room remained locked for a long time and alerted the university management and local police. A police team immediately reached the spot and broke open the door to find the student unresponsive.

Police conducted inquest proceedings at the scene and collected preliminary evidence. A suicide note was reportedly recovered from the room, in which the student apologised to her parents and cited academic pressure and exam stress as the reason for taking the extreme step. The body was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. After the post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to her family for last rites.

Police have registered a case and stated that further investigation is underway to understand the circumstances leading to the incident. University authorities have also expressed condolences and said they are cooperating with the investigation. The incident has once again highlighted the growing concerns over mental health pressure among students, especially those pursuing professional courses like engineering.
