📰 Sub-Inspector Arrested for Taking ₹20,000 Bribe in Nirmal

In a crackdown on corruption, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of police was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 in Nirmal.

Nirmal

The arrest was carried out by officials of the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), following a complaint from a citizen who accused the officer of demanding money in exchange for extending official favour in a case.

According to ACB officials, the SI had allegedly sought ₹20,000 from the complainant to process or influence a police matter. Acting on the complaint, the bureau laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

The tainted money was reportedly recovered from the possession of the accused officer during the operation. Officials also conducted preliminary verification procedures, including chemical tests, to establish the handling of the bribe money.

Following the arrest, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused has been taken into custody and is expected to be produced before a court.

ACB authorities reiterated their commitment to curbing corruption in public offices and urged citizens to come forward and report any such illegal demands by government officials.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns over corruption at the grassroots level, with calls for stricter vigilance and accountability within law enforcement agencies.
