Suspected Kidnapping Attempt on Himachal CM’s Aide’s Son; Case Registered Against Unknown Persons

A suspected kidnapping attempt targeting the son of an aide to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister has triggered concern in the hill state, with police registering a case against unidentified individuals and launching an investigation.

Suspected Kidnapping

According to initial reports, the incident took place late on Friday evening (March 20) in the outskirts of Shimla. The alleged target, Aryan Chauhan, who serves as the general secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress, was travelling from a hotel in Mashobra towards Shimla when the incident occurred.

Sources indicate that a group of unknown persons attempted to intercept his vehicle during the journey, raising suspicions of a possible kidnapping bid. However, Aryan Chauhan reportedly managed to escape safely, preventing any harm or abduction.

Following the incident, a complaint was lodged with the local police, who have since registered a case against unidentified suspects. Law enforcement authorities have begun scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and are questioning witnesses to piece together the sequence of events.

Police officials stated that all angles are being examined, including whether the incident was a targeted attack or an isolated act. Security in and around the region has been heightened as a precautionary measure.

The development has sparked political reactions as well, given Chauhan’s association with the ruling political establishment in the state. Party members have expressed concern over the safety of political workers and demanded swift action to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and that strict action will be taken once the culprits are identified. Further updates are expected as the probe progresses.
