Swami Avimukteshwaranand Moves Allahabad High Court Seeking Anticipatory Bail in POCSO Case

Prayagraj: Hindu seer Swami Avimukteshwaranand has approached the Allahabad High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a case registered against him under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In his petition filed before the High Court, the seer has alleged that the case lodged against him is “false and fabricated,” claiming that the Uttar Pradesh Police and sections of the administration are working together to foist a “fake case” against him.

Plea for Protection from Arrest

Through his counsel, Swami Avimukteshwaranand has sought protection from arrest, arguing that the allegations are politically motivated and intended to tarnish his reputation.

The plea reportedly contends that:

  • The complaint lacks credible evidence.

  • The charges have been framed with mala fide intent.

  • Arrest would cause irreparable damage to his public standing and religious duties.

He has requested the court to grant anticipatory bail until the investigation is completed.

Case Background

The FIR was registered under sections of the POCSO Act, which deals with sexual offences against minors and prescribes stringent legal provisions. Police sources have stated that the matter is under investigation and that evidence is being collected in accordance with due process.

Authorities have not publicly commented on the merits of the allegations but have maintained that the investigation will proceed strictly as per law.

Legal Proceedings Ahead

The Allahabad High Court is expected to hear the anticipatory bail plea shortly. The court may seek the State’s response before deciding whether to grant interim protection from arrest.

The case has drawn attention due to the prominence of the accused and the seriousness of the charges involved. Further developments are awaited as the matter comes up for hearing.
