Tobacco Baron’s Son Shivam Mishra in Lamborghini Crash in Kanpur; Six Injured as Speeding Supercar Triggers Chaos on VIP Road

Kanpur: Panic gripped parts of Kanpur on Sunday afternoon after a speeding Lamborghini Revuelto, allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco tycoon KK Mishra, went on a destructive rampage on a busy city road, injuring at least six people. The luxury car, reportedly worth around ₹10 crore, was later seized by the police.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Kanpur’s VIP Road, where the high-performance supercar was being driven at an excessive speed. The vehicle first rammed into an auto-rickshaw and then crashed into a parked motorcycle, flinging the bike rider nearly 10 feet into the air due to the impact. Pedestrians and nearby motorists narrowly escaped serious injury as the car ploughed through the area.

Allegations of drunk driving

Several eyewitnesses claimed that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Locals alleged that the Lamborghini was being driven recklessly, zigzagging through traffic moments before the crash.

Police officials said Shivam Mishra was taken into custody for questioning, and a medical examination was conducted to determine whether he was intoxicated at the time of driving. The results of the test are awaited.

Injured shifted to hospital

At least six people sustained injuries, including the auto-rickshaw driver, the motorcyclist, and pedestrians who were struck or injured by debris. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, where doctors said their condition is stable, though some suffered fractures and head injuries.

Police action underway

Senior police officials confirmed that the Lamborghini Revuelto has been seized, and a case has been registered under relevant sections related to rash and negligent driving, causing grievous hurt, and endangering public safety.

“We are investigating the sequence of events, verifying CCTV footage from nearby areas, and recording statements of eyewitnesses. Legal action will be taken strictly as per law,” a police officer said.

Public outrage

The incident has sparked public anger, with residents questioning how such high-powered vehicles are allowed to be driven recklessly on city roads. Locals demanded strict punishment, stating that reckless driving by influential individuals often goes unchecked.

The case has also renewed debate around road safety, drunk driving, and accountability, especially involving luxury vehicles capable of extreme speeds on urban roads.

Police said further action will depend on medical reports, forensic evidence, and the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
