Tragic HRTC Bus Accident in Uttarakhand: 3 Dead, Several Injured as Vehicle Plunges into Gorge

Kwanu, Uttarakhand:At least three people were killed and several others injured after a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus veered off the road and plunged into a gorge near Kwanu in Uttarakhand on Wednesday morning.

The bus, carrying approximately 35 passengers, was en route from Chopal in Shimla district to Paonta Sahib when it met with the accident. According to reports, the bus had departed Chopal at around 6:30 pm the previous evening and went off the road near Kwanu at about 9:30 am, rolling down into the steep gorge.


Local authorities and rescue teams rushed to the scene to extricate passengers and provide medical aid. Injured individuals were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, while police initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.


Himachal Road Transport Corporation officials confirmed the deaths and expressed condolences to the families of the victims, urging for road safety precautions in hilly regions. The incident highlights the risks faced by passengers traveling on mountainous roads, especially during challenging weather or road conditions.


Authorities are examining whether speeding, road conditions, or mechanical failure contributed to the mishap and have assured stringent measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
