Gujarat Car Crash:Liquor Seized from Vehicle

During inspection of the damaged vehicle, police discovered a large consignment of liquor bottles concealed inside. In total, 677 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) were recovered from the car.

Authorities suspect that the liquor was being transported illegally for sale or distribution within the state. The vehicle has been seized, and further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the consignment.

Prohibition in Gujarat

Manufacturing, sale, and consumption of liquor are prohibited in Gujarat under the state’s stringent prohibition laws. However, cases of illegal smuggling and bootlegging continue to surface periodically.

Police officials said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prohibition Act, and efforts are on to trace others who may be linked to the illegal supply network.

Investigation Continues

Investigators are examining call records, vehicle registration details, and possible interstate links to identify the broader network involved. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal liquor trade in the state.

The tragic accident and subsequent recovery of liquor have once again brought attention to the ongoing challenges of enforcing prohibition in Gujarat.
