Ghaziabad: In a shocking case of child abuse, a six-year-old girl was allegedly beaten to death by her father and stepmother in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district after she accidentally soiled her clothes while playing.
The incident took place in the Dasna area on Sunday. According to police, the child, identified as Shifa, was playing on the road near her home when she slipped into an open drain, which left her clothes dirty. When she returned home, her father Akram and stepmother Nisha reportedly lost their temper and subjected her to severe physical assault.
Police said the accused brutally beat the child and later left her on the roof of the house in the cold, allegedly as a form of punishment. Shifa’s condition deteriorated overnight, and she died on Monday morning.
The matter came to light after neighbours raised suspicion and lodged a complaint, following which police reached the spot. The child’s body was taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem examination.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Priya Shri Pal said the post-mortem report revealed 13 injury marks on Shifa’s body. “The injuries included multiple rib fractures and haematoma, clearly indicating severe physical violence,” the ACP said.
Based on the medical findings and preliminary investigation, police arrested Akram and Nisha on Tuesday. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and whether prolonged abuse was involved.
The incident has triggered outrage in the locality, with residents demanding strict punishment for those responsible for the child’s death.
