According to officials, the incident came to light when the accused himself contacted the police control room and admitted that he had attacked his sister at their residence. A police team rushed to the spot and found the woman lying in a pool of blood. She was declared dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the family had objected to the woman’s relationship with a man from another community. Tensions reportedly escalated in recent days, culminating in the fatal assault. The accused allegedly attacked his sister with a sharp-edged weapon following a heated argument.

Police said the man has been taken into custody and the weapon used in the crime has been recovered. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

In a controversial development, the victim’s father is reported to have justified the act, claiming that the family was opposed to the relationship. Authorities said they are examining all statements and will take action as per the law if any individual is found to have abetted or supported the crime.

Senior police officials stated that the matter is being investigated from all angles, including possible prior threats or coercion. Security has been tightened in the area to prevent any communal tension.

The incident has once again raised concerns over so-called “honour killings” and the need for greater awareness and protection for individuals exercising their right to choose their partners. Police said strict action will be taken and further legal proceedings are underway.
