Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez in a key diplomatic outreach, with both leaders agreeing to further deepen and expand bilateral cooperation in the coming years.

“We agreed to further deepen and expand our bilateral partnership in all areas, with a shared vision of taking India–Venezuela relations to new heights in the years ahead,” PM Modi said after the conversation.


The call comes amid major political and economic transitions in Venezuela and highlights India’s effort to strengthen ties with Latin America.


Leaders Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Multiple Sectors

Focus on Trade, Investment, Energy, Health, and Agriculture


According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in key areas such as trade and investment, energy, digital technology, healthcare, agriculture, and people-to-people exchanges.


Officials said both sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest and emphasised the importance of cooperation among countries of the Global South.
